MORTAL
Mortal :
Slipping Immortality
One day,
Everything you declare yours today
Will be gone.
Your home,
The walls no longer hold your memories,
The bench on the veranda no longer keeps your secrets,
Your favorite chair no longer feels your touch.
The window forgets how to breeze just for you.
Because one day,
Your next generations will eventually repaint and reshape
The colors you once left behind.
Your diary,
Becomes a storybook-
A tale no longer yours to tell.
Your car,
Becomes a heap of trash-
A forgotten shell of what once mattered.
Your bed,
Becomes a place for strangers-
Just another place to rest and dream.
One day,
Everything you declare yours today,
Will slip away-
Just an another season fading.
So stop living like you're Immortal
And start living for yourself as a MORTAL.
My dear lovely reader,
Lately, I’ve found myself pondering questions like, "Why should I work hard?", "What happens to all my efforts when I’m gone?", and "What’s the point of it all?" These questions made me fall into the illusion of immortality—a belief that nothing will change. But that’s far from the truth.
In my latest poem Mortal, I reflect on the fleeting nature of life and possessions. It’s a gentle reminder to embrace the fact that we are not immortal, and that we should start living fully for ourselves, in the present moment.
That's for today,
I hope you guys enjoy reading my post as much as I enjoy writing.
LOVE,
HEY MOKSHA.
